아마존, 99달러에 쿼드코어 탑재 Fire TV 공개
아마존이 애플TV와 Roku의 라이벌 모델인 Fire TV를 공개했다.
비디오 스트리밍을 비롯하여 애플TV의 모든 기능, 게이밍 기능까지 포함하는 고성능 기기이다. 아마존 부대표 피터 라슨(Peter Larson)은 "Fire TV의 포인트는 검색, 퍼포먼스, 닫힌 에코시스템(Closed Ecosystem)"이라고 밝혔다.
아마존의 프리미엄 회원제 서비스인 아마존 프라임 가입자는 프라임 인스턴트 비디오 플랜이 적용된 비디오를 무제한으로 사용할 수 있어, 기존 아마존 유저에게 더욱 매력적인 장점이 있다. 아마존 프라임은 가입 하기 전에 아마존 프라임 기능의 30일 무료 체험도 가능하다.
킨들 파이어 HDX 사용자는 간단하게 미러링 기능 까지 사용할 수 있다. 또 X-Ray 기능도 지원하여 시청 중인 TV 쇼나 영화에 대한 내용을 IMDb를 연동하여 받아 볼 수 있다.
아마존 프리 타임이라는 추가 요금 플랜을 다음 달에 공개 할 예정인데, 이것은 아이들을 위한 기능이다. 아이들이 좋아하는 메뉴로 재배치 시킬 수 있고, 기능 접근 제한을 제공한다. Nickelodeon, Sesame Street, PBS Kids 등의 주요한 채널들을 월 2.99달러에 무제한 시청 할 수 있다.
